Full depth drone wax foundations are beeswax sheets with larger hexagonal cells designed to encourage drone production in a beehive. These foundations are used to create drone comb for various beekeeping purposes, such as managing the Varroa mite population, as mites are more attracted to drone brood. They are a standard “full depth” size and are often made from 100% pure Australian or New Zealand beeswax.

This video explains how to use drone comb to manage Varroa mites:

- Drone production: The larger cells guide bees to build comb specifically for drones, which is beneficial for reasons like creating queen cells or providing a source for other needs.
- Varroa mite management: Beekeepers can use drone comb as a trap for Varroa mites. The mites are more attracted to drone brood, so the beekeeper can remove the drone brood from the hive to help control the mite population.
- Guidance for bees: Like regular wax foundation, drone foundation provides a guide for bees to build straight, uniform comb, which helps ensure frames are easy to inspect and remove.
- Made from 100% pure Australian beeswax, without chemical additives.
