Reusable Corflute mat for monitoring honeybee colonies for Varroa
Made of recyclable corflute, the mat is reusable for 50+ times. It is used in hives with ventilated bottom boards and can be recycled in the normal recycling bin, giving it cost advantages over single-use sticky mats.
The surface should be lightly oiled with cooking spray-on oil, Canola, safflower, vegetable oils (or similar) when used. After each use, it can be washed in warm soapy water or normal household detergent, then air dried, ready for use again.
Commonly used when monitoring bee colonies for Varroa mites, etc., in conjunction with intervention strategies like chemical treatments, so that mites dislodged or killed are trapped in the oiled surface, ready for counting.
Designed to cover the entire area of the hive base, not just a portion of it (as with the single-use sticky mats)
All artwork is printed in UV-resistant ink.
It’s unique in that the monitoring squares are designed to be exactly 10 square centimetres, allowing for the consistent data collection in a scientific manner as required.
It is possible to calculate a mite loading simply by counting the squares, with each square being 10 square centimetres.
Wholly produced in Australia.
We also accept large orders with bulk price.
